Grant for Candidates Seeking Alternative Teacher Certification
Discount LogoIrving ISD and Grand Prairie ISD have entered into a grant partnership with Quality ACT Alternative Certification Program. If a recommended candidate for a position in Irving ISD or Grand Prairie ISD is enrolled in the Quality ACT program for certification, they may qualify for a $1,500 grant to offset the cost of their certification program. The teachers must be seeking certification in selected fields.

Program Fees

(All fees are non-refundable and subject to change.)

Application Fee - $50
A $50 application fee is required to initiate the application process.  A check or money order is accepted.

Acceptance Fee  $450
Due upon passing of the content exam. Once the content exam has been passed the applicant must submit $450 in order to receive the Acceptance Letter into the program. (MasterCard, VISA, check or money order is acceptable.) 

Summer Institute Fee: $500
If a position is not secured by June 15, 2010, the $500 fee is paid in order to attend SI.
If a position is secured before the June 15th date, the fee is also rolled into your payroll deduction for 10 months.

Internship Fee - $3,700  (prorated monthly during internship)
For applicants who successfully obtain employment for the upcoming school year, this fee is payroll deducted on a prorated monthly basis during the internship.

    Additional Fees paid to other agencies:

$ 45 - Criminal History Verification

$ 52 - Probationary Certificate, which is required by the State during internship

$ 77 - Standard Certificate, which is required by the state upon successful completion of the program and success on two required TExES exams (content and pedagogy)

$120 - Registration Fee for the TExES Content Exam

$120 - Registration Fee for the TExES PPR (Pedagogy & Professional Responsibility) Exam
